FLATIRON DISTRICT

The Flatiron District, located approximately south of 25th Street and north of 14th between Sixth and Park Avenue is a neighbourhood that has become residential, vibrant and casual. Taking its name from the famous triangular building “The Flatiron Building” on West 23rd and Broadway, the area grew into a residential neighborhood during the mid 1980’s as a result of the increasing number of new restaurants and businesses.

Given its accessibility and central location (with Union Square to the South, Chelsea to the West and Gramercy Park to the East), the Flatiron District is now a highly attractive neighbourhood of choice amongst many residents including those who are transitioning from single to family life.  Bustling by day, evening hours tend to quieten.  Although, given the area’s fast reputation for excellent dining the social scene is very much alive but in a more laid-back type of manner.

Madison Square Park, a well sought-after retreat by many from the fast paced city environment lies in the heart of the Flatiron. During the summer months the park hosts many events including free concerts and art exhibitions.

Attractions include the Flatiron Building, Eleven Madison Park, the extremely popular high-end food market Eataly, Madison Square Park and the open out-door seating area on Broadway.
